Pets are prohibited in any Scout facility or camp. No firearms, weapons or fireworks are allowed on any Scout property. Build outdoor fires only in the provided areas. No open flames in any building except in permanent fireplaces. Cook only in kitchen provided areas of buildings. Smoking is not allowed in any council building or property without being in a designated area defined by the ranger. Should it be found that additional facilities were used, additional charges may be incurred. Use only those facilities that have been reserved and paid for. All groups are responsible for set-up and clean-up of any facility used, following the Cleaning Guidelines published separately. Check-in and check-out of camp per the instructions for each location. Swimming and boating activities are allowed under the guidelines of BSA's Guide to Safe Scouting and Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat.Ī usage fee is charged to cover normal wear and tear to the facility. Understand that the Scout Oath and Scout Law are the guiding principles of our camps and are the responsibility of every adult leader to demonstrate by their example. On the forest ecology hike, students were able to put their knowledge of ecosystems to the test as they hunted for producers, consumers, and even decomposers when they explored under a rotting log! During the weather rotation, students were able to experiment and see how certain weather tools are used to help predict weather. The groups did a great job engaging in conversation with the camp counselors on topics we have covered in class, as well as taking risks on ideas we haven’t discussed. Students were split up into groups where they learned about forest ecology, water ecology, meteorology, and of course completed the zip line and tower climbing courses. The day was filled with adventure and learning. On Wednesday, November 9th, Shiloh’s 5th graders spent the day at Camp Thunderbird in Lake Wylie, South Carolina.
